EN ISO 20471 (UK & EU): Classes, Requirements & CE Marking

UK and European Safety legislation for hi vis safety clothing requires the endorsement of the standard EN ISO 20471, ensuring high‑visibility clothing used in high‑risk environments meet certain safety standards which ultimately helps protect workers. It specifies performance requirements for fluorescent background materials, retroreflective tape, and the minimum visible surface areas required to keep people safe in their work environment. The standard defines three protection classes aligned to risk: Class 1 (lowest), Class 2 (moderate), and Class 3 (highest). All garments must bear the CE mark and be tested and certified to EN ISO 20471.

We aim to have all our in-house products tested to the highest standards, and are please to announce that we have achieved a pass on the first stage of our testing orange hi vis joggers. The joggers with manufacturer part number MPN BT5053, BT5033 , BT5051 and BT5075 that are made for 300GSM 100% polyester fleece have conformed to the first stage of the chromaticity and luminance test using test method CIE 15 for BS EN ISO 20741:2013+A1:2016.
